Biography

Dr. Xiaolu Bai joined the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety in June 2025. Her research has focused on cognitive load, distracted driving and driver engagement in partially automated vehicles. She is experienced in mixed-methods techniques, including advanced statistical analyses of eye-tracking and driving performance data. Dr. Bai received her bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and in Applied Statistics from Purdue University; her master’s in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach; and her doctorate degree in Human Factors and Applied Cognition from North Carolina State University.
